Essential Construction Projects Update

As much of the construction industry prepares to return to sites next Monday, the Horizon Offsite team have been working on essential projects over the past two months.

Last month, the Limerick Leader newspaper reported on two of our vital hospital projects as follows:

‘Work begins on major hospital projects in Limerick to add capacity in response to pandemic’ . You can read the full article here: https://www.limerickleader.ie/news/home/532716/workbegins-on-major-hospital-projects-in-limerick-to-add-capacity-in-response-topandemic.html

The report refers to major hospital projects in Limerick to add capacity in response to the coronavirus pandemic; the design and build of two new permanent blocks, one at University Hospital Limerick and one at Croom Orthopaedic Hospital. Each of the new blocks consist of 24-bed single, en-suite rooms.

Both projects involve Horizon Offsite structural rapid build steel frame system to facilitate an earlier start to construction work, a more streamlined process than possible on traditional builds and a considerable reduction in programme. Given that both hospitals are fully operational throughout the build process, it was necessary to incorporate logistical solutions into the design in order to minimise truck movements and other disruptions to the hospital staff, patients and visitors.

Our construction delivery partners on both of these vital healthcare facility projects are: Clancy Construction (www.clancy.ie),  Evolusion Innovation (www.evolusioninnovation.com), Reddy Architecture (http://reddyarchitecture.com) and O’Dwyer Steel (https://odwyersteel.ie).

Both projects involve a Horizon Offsite structural rapid build steel frame system, designed for rapid delivery and with scope for future vertical expansion, if and when needed. The works have been undertaken in two shifts daily to ensure compliance with HSE social distancing guidelines, without any unnecessary time delays.

This week, thanks to the immense efforts of all the Horizon Offsite team, and all the construction delivery partners, the structure is now complete and the external façade is being completed (photos will issue shortly).
